Visa sponsorship will continue despite Trump’s restrictions: Nvidia

The United States has tightened restrictions on the crucial H-1B visa for foreign workers. However, the country’s technology company Nvidia has decided to continue sponsoring the visa.

The company’s CEO, Jensen Huang, assured employees that they would continue to sponsor visas as before and that the company would bear all costs.

According to a recent report published in Business Insider, in a message sent to employees, Huang said, “I am one of the many immigrants at Nvidia. The opportunities we have had in America have changed our lives. Nvidia’s success would not have been possible without the talent of immigrants.”

He added that legal immigration is essential to maintaining the United States’ leadership in technology and innovation, and that’s why Nvidia is providing opportunities to talented people from around the world.

“We have built our company with the best talent in the world. We will continue to sponsor H-1B visa applicants and bear all government fees and expenses ourselves,” Huang said.

On September 19, US President Donald Trump announced that he would limit the H-1B visa program and set a new application fee of $100,000. He argued that this would encourage companies to hire local Americans.

Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick supported the decision, saying that large companies would not bear such a cost. This would reduce the hiring of foreign workers.
However, various labor unions, educational institutions and religious organizations have sued the decision in a California court. They complained that the fee is “unfair, unreasonable and illegal.” According to them, the president does not have the power to change such a policy without the approval of Congress.
