Autopsies of 6 people killed in Mirpur fire completed
Autopsies have been completed on six of the 16 people killed in the horrific fire that broke out at a chemical godown in Rupnagar, Mirpur, in the capital.
They are Mahira Akhter (14), Nargis Akhter (18), Nur Alam (23), Sanwar Hossain (22), Abdullah Al-Mamun (39), Rabiul Islam Robin (19).
Confirming the matter, Rupnagar Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) Mokhlesur Rahman said, “Autopsies of six people were completed this evening. Forensic doctors have collected samples from the bodies for DNA profiling.”
The CID’s forensic lab will collect necessary samples from all claimants to confirm the identities of the deceased.
The relatives of the deceased have been informed. They have been asked to go to the Malibagh lab from 9 am tomorrow, Thursday, said Masud Rabbi, a lab examiner.
Sub-inspector Mokhlesur of Rupnagar Police Station said that autopsies will be completed on the remaining 10 bodies in phases tomorrow. After confirming their identities through DNA, the bodies will be handed over to their relatives.
