AI-based image editing feature is being added to WhatsApp Status

The experience of sharing images on WhatsApp Status is about to get a big change. The popular messaging app has started testing a new feature of artificial intelligence (AI)-based image editing within the status editor, technology website WABetaInfo reported.

According to the report, now you don’t have to go to a separate photo editing app while creating a status. You can edit photos using various Meta AI-powered tools right within WhatsApp. This feature was first seen in the beta version of Android, but now the feature is being tested in the beta version of iOS as well. It has been launched for iPhone users through TestFlight.

According to WABetaineFor, some iOS beta users are seeing a new editing interface when posting photos. Here, in addition to the previous filters, AI-based creative tools have been added. Using these tools, you can adjust the color or light and shadow of the photo, as well as change the style and atmosphere of the entire photo. For example, you can apply different visual styles such as 3D, comic book, anime, painting, kawaii, clay, felt, classical or video game.

The new editor also has a feature called ‘Redo’. If you don’t like a style, you can recreate the same style. This will reduce the hassle of editing the image from scratch. In addition, you will have the opportunity to delete unnecessary parts of the image, add new things, or fix specific parts separately with the AI tool. During these changes, the AI will also adjust the background of the image so that it remains natural.

Another new feature is adding image animation, which will transform still images into small moving scenes, making statuses more interesting.

Currently, this feature is available to a limited number of iOS beta users. The feature is being rolled out in phases and by region. WhatsApp has not yet officially announced when it will be available for all users.
