OpenAI launches ‘App Store’

Until now, ChatGPT was only used for conversation or information. Now, various apps like phones can be used within ChatGPT. The app will also perform tasks directly on behalf of the user. OpenAI said in a blog post that they have launched an app store directly within ChatGPT.

The blog also says that these apps will expand ChatGPT conversations by adding new information or context. Through them, users will be able to do various tasks such as ordering groceries, creating a slide deck from an outline, or finding an apartment to stay in.

The company also said that previously connected apps like Google Drive, which were called ‘connectors’, will now be called simply ‘apps’. This new app section is available on iOS, Android and web versions. This section is divided into three sections: Featured, Lifestyle and Productivity. Through this, users will be able to add ChatGP to popular daily apps and Booking.com, Spotify and Dropbox.

In this case, if you want to use an app, click on it and press the ‘Connect’ button. Then allow the app to use ChatGPT. Once connected, you can start working directly with that app. Among the new additions to the App Store is the Apple Music app, which, like Spotify, will help users find their favorite songs, create playlists, and manage their music library through chatting.

Another important app is DoorDash, which allows you to convert a recipe, meal plan, or grocery list into an actionable shopping cart through ChatGPT. In addition to the app directory, OpenAI is now allowing developers to publish their apps on ChatGPT. They can submit apps for review by following specific guidelines.

OpenAI has also released a number of resources to help developers, including a set of guidelines for building apps, some open-source apps, an open-source library for how apps should look inside chat, and a quick-start guide. These are a major step forward from the company’s “software developer kit,” or SDK, which was introduced in October.
